Areas of Expertise:

Mr. Maillet brings a strong general management and finance background to the McIntire School, as well as international expertise, having worked for nearly 20 years in the global financial services industry as an investment banker, business manager, and private equity investor. During his career, Mr. Maillet lived and worked throughout the Asia-Pacific region, and maintains an active interest in understanding that dynamic and vital part of the world. Mr. Maillet teaches a fourth-year course in global finance, as well as both strategy and finance in Module IV of the M.S. in MIT Program. Mr. Maillet also directs the Global Immersion Experience (GIE) track within the M.S. in Commerce Program and, in 2009, will lead a group of graduate students on a GIE trip to China and Hong Kong.

Professional Activities:

Mr. Maillet spent the early part of his banking career in New York and San Francisco and then spent nearly 10 years living and working in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore. His experience in M&A, public and private debt and equity financing, and general financial advisory spans a wide range of industries, including real estate, telecommunications, IT, financial services, energy, and transportation. In addition to his transaction experience, Mr. Maillet served as both Asia-Pacific COO and global IT business manager for a major financial institution, developing expertise in management, strategic planning, and business innovation. Mr. Maillet’s experience in private equity investing focused on IT-driven opportunities across a variety of industries. Mr. Maillet was appointed to the faculty of the McIntire School in 2005 and was named Associate Dean for Global Initiatives in 2008.
